Bruce Zetter

Charles Nowiszewski Professor of Cancer Biology, Harvard Medical School

Bruce Zetter is the Charles Nowiszewski Professor of Cancer Biology at Harvard Medical School. His research focuses on extending the lives of cancer patients, and he has devoted his career to studying how cancer evolves, spreads, and causes patient harm. His work has revealed new biomarkers to predict cancer outcomes and new treatments for late-stage cancers. Dr. Zetter has served as a consultant or board member to 40+ biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies and also serves as an advisor to venture and investment firms. He has won numerous awards for his work in cancer research and has received three awards from Harvard Medical School for excellence in teaching, mentoring, and leadership. He is a frequent advisor to young scientists and entrepreneurs starting companies in biotechnology. Prior to Harvard, Dr. Zetter received a B.A. in Anthropology from Brandeis University and a Ph.D. from the University of Rhode Island. He currently conducts research at Boston Children’s Hospital where he has served as Vice President of Research and Chief Scientific Officer.
