Casey Perley
Director, Army Applications Laboratory
Dr. Perley is a biodefense scientist and leader who is committed to accelerating technology into the DOD and the hands of the warfighter. She holds a B.S. in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry from Yale University, a Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics and Microbiology from Duke University, and spent four years as a post-doctoral fellow in the Virology Section of the US Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases She has over a decade of experience studying deadly pathogens in high containment facilities (i.e. Biosafety level 3 and 4) that threaten U.S. Soldiers and public health. Since leaving the bench, Dr. Perley has focused on harnessing our national innovation base for Army modernization. She drove the establishment of AAL's Special Program Award for Required Technology Needs (SPARTN) - a new business model that reduced bureaucracy, and made it easier for small businesses to pivot their technology to solving Army problems.
