Miriam Bredella

Associate Dean for Translational Science, Director Clinical and Translational Science Institute, Professor of Radiology

Dr. Bredella is Associate Dean for Translational Science and Director of the Clinical and Translational Science Institute at NYU Langone Health and Grossman School of Medicine. She is also a musculoskeletal radiologist and professor of radiology and vice chair for strategy in the Department of Radiology at NYU. She holds an MBA from MIT/Sloan School of Management. Dr. Bredella is an NIH-funded physician scientist focusing on novel functional imaging techniques to determine the effects of different fat depots on bone and metabolic risk across the weight spectrum and in patients with cancer. Recently she has worked on implementing opportunistic screening (using CT scans performed for other purposes to assess bone and cardiovascular health) into clinical practice. Dr. Bredella has been continuously grant-funded as PI by the NIH and has been elected to be a member of the NIH Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSA) Program Steering Committee and chairs several national CTSA working groups on workforce development. She is the author of 300 peer-reviewed manuscripts and multiple textbooks. She is a fellow of the American College of Radiology and a Scholar in Diagnostic Excellence of the National Academy of Medicine. She is the recipient of multiple awards, including the Distinguished Investigator Award from the Academy of Radiology Research and the Presidents Medal of the International Skeletal Society.
