Dr. Blain is an internationally known expert in cell cycle and cancer biology and is one of the world's experts on p27Kip1. She has been studying cell cycle regulation for more than 30 years, since its discovery at MSKCC. She was an NIH funded investigator and a tenured Associate Professor at the SUNY Downstate Medical Center for two decades, before founding Concarlo Therapeutics, capitalizing on discoveries her lab had made. Concarlo is focused on the potential of p27 targeting and its unique ability to inhibit the three main drivers of cancer progression and drug resistance, CDK4/6 and CDK2, in order to finally change outcomes for women with metastatic breast cancer. Concarlo's approach is the generation of LOCKTACs, or Lock and Hold Molecular Glues, using their Prox-Glue platform. Dr. Blain was trained at Princeton, Columbia and the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. She is a graduate of the Springboard Women's Bootcamp, Creative Destruction Lab, the AimHi Women's Foundation.
