Vijay (Vij) Iyengar builds highly successful, multifunctional organizations and drives transformative growth by leading teams across sales, marketing, medical, and corporate development functions in regional, national, and global settings. As a board director, Vij brings global experience, driving growth across pharmaceuticals, biotech, and diagnostics, with proven success in scaling businesses, executing M&A, and navigating complex regulatory and commercial landscapes. His strategic and management expertise encompasses Hematology/Oncology, Dermatology/Autoimmune, Rare Diseases, and other specialty therapeutic areas. Vij has been the recipient of multiple awards for business and leadership excellence. Most recently, as Executive Vice President, Global Medical Affairs, Product & Partnership Strategy at Incyte Corporation, Vij led teams in Global Product Strategy, Global Value, Access & Pricing, Business Development & Licensing, Alliance Management, Publications, Global Medical Communications, and Epidemiology/RWE. He negotiated agreements and closed deals exceeding $2.5B across preclinical to commercial-stage assets, and he helped drive transformative change at Incyte, launching five brands across eight indications, increasing the footprint from one to 20 countries, and quadrupling revenues from less than $1B to more than $4B. Previously, at Novartis Oncology, Vij served as President of Genoptix Corporation, a leading clinical oncology laboratory acquired by Novartis in 2011 to bolster its cancer diagnostics and personalized medicine business. He oversaw operations for a 700-person team that included a CLIA-certified laboratory conducting multimodal cancer diagnostics and processing 80,000+ patient cases per year, as well as a biopharma unit providing clinical trial diagnostics. In a prior position as Vice President, Rare Diseases Franchise Head, US Oncology Business Unit, Vij built a newly created franchise within Novartis Oncology that focused on rare and orphan diseases and grew it to deliver & gt; $100M in revenues in its second year. He previously held a series of progressive senior leadership roles at Novartis. Earlier in his career, Vij was an Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Company and held research positions at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA, and Stanford University Medical Center in Palo Alto, CA. Vij earned an MD from Harvard Medical School, where he was awarded a National Cancer Institute Summer Fellowship. He also holds a BS in Biological Sciences from Stanford University, where he was awarded the Firestone Medal for excellence in undergraduate research.
