Nicole McKnight is dedicated to promoting the success of life science start-ups in New York and is excited to be contributing to the exponential growth of its biotech ecosystem. Dr. McKnight is Chief Operating Officer of Amabiotics, an early-stage therapeutics company developing treatments for neurodegenerative diseases. Previously, Nicole was Managing Director of BioLabs New York, a co-working space for growing biotech startups in the heart of the city. She was instrumental in establishing partnerships with New York University, the State, the City, and corporate sponsors. Nicole completed her neuroscience postdoc in 2014 at Mount Sinai Hospital where she studied autophagy proteins in mouse models. She obtained her PhD from UCL in 2011 from work at Cancer Research UK in Lincoln’s Inn Fields, where she performed a genome-wide screen to find new autophagy regulators. Nicole is from Massachusetts and worked in labs at Harvard Medical School, Ore Therapeutics, and Millennium Pharmaceuticals. She holds a certificate in business fundamentals from Harvard Business School Online and is a 2018 Crain’s New York Business 40 Under 40. She is also Vice President of the UCL Friends & Alumni Association (UCLFAA). Nicole lives in Manhattan with her husband and enjoys eating out and watching baseball and Premier League football.
